How do you synchronize Simple CRM with a Google APPS account?

Google Contact has changed its authentication procedure.

As a result, Simple CRM had to adapt its synchronization process with Google Contact.

If you do not apply the following, you will no longer be able to synchronize your Simple CRM contacts with Google Contact.


Prerequisites
To use Google APPS Contact synchronization, you need a Google Apps for Business account http://www.google.com/intx/fr/enterprise/apps/business/ or a standard free Gmail address.


Using Synchronization Properly
It is important to respect certain basic principles to ensure proper synchronization.

1) Qualify the maximum business and personal email addresses in Simple CRM and Google Contact;
2) The same email address should not be used with multiple contacts;
3) Synchronization with several different Gmail/Google Contact accounts is allowed.


Understanding Synchronization
With each synchronization, Simple CRM performs a replication in both directions.

If the Google contact was modified after the Simple CRM contact, the modifications made on the Google contact are reported in the Simple CRM contact.

If the Simple CRM contact was modified after the Google contact, the modifications made on the Simple CRM contact are reported in the Google contact.

The recognition of the contacts on one side and the other is done by the personal email address or the professional email address. This is why it is important to inform as many contacts as possible with their personal or professional email address.

The same email address must not be used on several contacts. Only the first contact with the email address you are looking for will be updated.

1) Simple CRM -> Google Contact

First configuration: Google Contact area
1) Go to your GMail or Google Apps account, on the Google Contact interface.
2) Create a "SimpleCRM" contact group and associate the contacts you want to synchronize to this group.


Second configuration when you first request synchronization from Simple CRM
1) Connect to Simple CRM
2) Go to the Contact page
3) Click on "Sync Mobile".



4) If you are logged into multiple Google Accounts, from your web browser you will see the following screen:





Click the Google Account you want to sync to.

5) You arrive on the request for authorization. This authorization will only be requested at the first synchronization request.



Click I accept and synchronization will take place.




6) Stay on the synchronization page until the synchronization end message is displayed. A synchronization can last up to 15 minutes: be patient.





Next synchronization(s)
1) Login to your GMail or Google Apps account
2) Go to the Contact page
3) Click on "Sync Mobile".
4) Stay on the synchronization page until the synchronization end message is displayed.


Appendices
Remarks :
Only contacts that you have changed since the last synchronization will be affected.
Each synchronization processes 50 contacts at a time, repeat synchronization as long as there are contacts to synchronize.

Note: in the Google Contact -> Simple CRM sense, it is not possible to reliably identify a company in Google Contact. That's why business information is copied to the Simple CRM contact's Note field, not to the contact's business contact information.
